General Questions

  • How can we participate in the International Fibonacci Olympiad?
    To participate in the Olympiad, you must first register through the organizing body in your country. Information about the registration process and relevant dates can be obtained from our website or the website of the local organizing body.
  • What is the format of the selection and final stages of the competition?
    The selection stage of the competition consists of multiple-choice tests and is conducted within each participating country. The final stage is organized for students who successfully pass the selection round and includes open-ended questions.
  • What is the assessment system of the Olympiad?
    In the selection stage, each correct answer is worth 4 points, and 1 point is deducted for each incorrect answer. No points are awarded or deducted for unanswered questions. In the final stage, open-ended questions are evaluated based on specific criteria.
  • What is the award system like?
    In the selection stage, students who perform best are awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals. In the final stage, students who score the highest are honored with special awards, including electronic devices and opportunities for university admissions.
  • How does the appeal process work?
    After the exam results are announced, participants or their representatives can appeal within a certain period (usually 24 hours) on the correctness of the questions, the evaluation of the answers, and other technical issues. The appeal committee carefully reviews each complaint and, if necessary, adjusts the answers and results.
  • How long is the exam duration in the selection stage?
    The duration of the exam in the selection stage varies depending on the category. For Kids, Category 1, and Category 2, the exam duration is 60 minutes. For Category 3, 4, 5, and 6, it is 70 minutes.
  • How many questions are there in each category in the final stage?
    The number of questions in the final stage varies by category. For Category 2, there are 25 questions. For Category 3, 4, 5, and 6, open-ended questions are used, with each question worth 7 points, and students’ work is evaluated based on specific criteria.
  • In what languages are the questions of the Olympiad presented?
    The questions of the Olympiad are presented in the native languages of the participants or in internationally accepted languages – English, Russian. Participating countries may also present the questions in their state languages.
  • What is the assessment system of the Olympiad?
    The Olympiad consists of two stages: the selection round and the final round. In the selection round, each correct answer is worth 4 points, and 1 point is deducted for each incorrect answer. No points are awarded or deducted for unanswered questions. In the final round, the assessment is based on open-ended questions, and the scoring for each correct answer and deduction for incorrect answers is determined according to the competition rules.
  • What age groups are the categories for in the Olympiad?
    The Olympiad consists of several categories suitable for different age groups: Category Kids (Grade 1) Category 1 (Grade 2) Category 2 (Grades 3 and 4) Category 3 (Grades 5 and 6) Category 4 (Grades 7 and 8) Category 5 (Grades 9 and 10) Category 6 (Grades 11 and 12).
  • Where is the final stage of the Olympiad held each year?
    The final stage of the Olympiad is held each year in a predetermined country. The country and location can change annually, and relevant information will be provided on our website or in our official announcements prior to the competition.
